Jan 1 Photoshoot with Joe in Studio

On Thursday the Pomona Camera Club and I had the pleasure of photographing Joe Ansalvish, who we have been asking to pose for our group for 6 months now. Costumes, hats and weapons in tow, and even a Frozen friend (dressed as Elsa) along with, we began the photoshoot in Duarte, CA on December 27, 2018.

Joe came in looking pretty typical in a leather jacket and cap but that dark eye makeup tipped me off that a pirate might be on the loose next. And I was so right… up next we have Pirate Joe.

Joe channeled his inner Captain Jack Sparrow, for some appropriate hand motions which made for some killer pirate poses. He really gets into character and it’s hard to shake it off, even if he gets into a new getup. Take a look at his Pirate look complete with accurate weaponry below:

After the Pirate phase, we were onto guitars, starting with this cowboy look and a classic acoustic guitar, which provided some beautiful sounds and epic pictures.

Next came full rocker style. There was music, headbanging and rocking out in front of each photographer as Joe did his thing. I can tell this is where he really shines as a performer and these guitars are gorgeous.

Lastly, we are whisked away to Bram Stoker’s Dracula with this Hollywood accurate costume modeled after the film. I have to say after reviewing the pictures versus the movie stills, I am impressed by how much they look alike. (Google it if you aren’t familiar.)
