Sarah Tarkoff's "Eye of the Beholder" series "Sinless" and "Fearless"
Earlier this week, we went to a book signing for our good friend and author Sarah Tarkoff. She’s a talented writer for the hit TV show Arrow and this is her second book in the trilogy “Eye of the Beholder.” The first book is titled “Sinless.”

It’s a thrilling sci-fi mystery about a young girl named Grace Luther living in a dystopian world where events similar to the rapture in the Bible had occurred years before. Humanity survived and is making a comeback, but there are terrifying new phenomena that affect the population since the start of the rapture. Right and wrong are physically manifested as beauty and ugliness.
Somehow people have learned to accept it and life seems to go on. That is, until something happens to Grace’s boyfriend. A mystery surrounding him comes to light and it becomes increasingly clear that things are not really what they seem. As she delves further into the mystery she endangers herself, her father and her friends.
Some of the themes and elements are familiar but not derivative; paired with a really cool, original premise that I’m certain you will hear more about!
I wish I could divulge more, but it’s way more fun to go on the ride yourself as each mystery folds into another in a gratifying way.

Her first stop was at Book Soup in West Hollywood on Wednesday night, which is where we headed out to. This is a really great, quirky bookstore near the Viper Room on Sunset Blvd. Paper is still King here with a great selection of everything from the latest fiction, to really cool coffee table books and weekly events with author appearances.
Sarah spoke to a room filled with friends and fans, read a passage and signed a lot of books. It must be really awesome for her to present a published book to a room full of supporters amongst the delightful aroma of paper books. We know it was awesome for us to be there!

Like I said, the premise behind this series is amazing and I’m sure you’ll be hearing more about it out there. (Seriously, read it and be “in” on something cool before it gets huge for once!)

Mike summed that up beautifully in terms of the quick plot synopsis and the signing event but I also wanted to touch on the fact that I do not consider myself a “reader” and I probably haven't finished a book cover to cover since college, but “Sinless” was such a page-turner for me! I hung on Sarah’s every word as I visualized this dystopian world she had created. Getting lost in the story and almost feeling the Great Spirit’s wrath myself, as it was so colorfully described, really helped me feel a connection to each character and made me want to learn more with each passing chapter! When I finished the novel, I was thirsty for more, so I am glad that now we have book 2 “Fearless” in hand!
