Disclosurefest and Mass Meditation 2018

Disclosurefest and Mass Meditation 2018

Hello and welcome to the "Disclosurefest and Mass Meditation Initiative” 2018! Set in the Los Angeles Historical State Park on Spring Street, thousands of yoga enthusiasts, tourists, optimists and conspiracy theorists gathered on Saturday, June 23 from 10 am - 7 pm.

The mood was positive, and buzzing with excitement as they were just setting up when we arrived via the Metro Goldline.

It was a grey, comfortable June day on this beautiful Saturday morning. Bands took the opening stage in tiedye shirts, dreads and bare feet and we soon realized that music was really the heart of this festival.

Flags from every nation lined the park’s West hillside, as the gorgeous Los Angeles skyline was hazily set in the background. Food trucks lined up on the North side with healthy choices including shaved ice, tofu BBQ wraps and several vegan specialties. And vendors selling art, apparel, healing stones, physic readings, incense, flutes, jewelry, and yoga classes lined the South side. We were surrounded by bustling activity and at the same time, calming serenity.

This colorful scene was more than tempting for us and so as usual, we took tons of photos at this vibrant event! Just being amongst the live music, happy people and waving flags, I felt a sense of unity and peace as citizens from all over took part in this collective effort.

The main event stage in the center of the park was host to several speakers, performers, and singers all leading up to main event - the Mass Meditation. Tents helped shade the main field, as this jungle gym provided an excellent way to gain some altitude and perspective on the scene.

On the East side, this igloo-shaped tent housed meditation sessions all day. (Too bad we didn’t bring our yoga mats!)

Love, peace and spiritual energy were all around us! Festive tents with live drummers, DJ’s and happy dancing participants freely expressed themselves in rhythmic movements. Demonstrations of paired yoga poses wowed spectators. And sound baths and peaceful guided meditations were scheduled throughout the day. A modern hippies dream come true, right!?

We were astounded by all the activity, sights, smells and people and it was hard to get our minds around what this day was really all about and how we fit into the mix. Of course, we were there to document, enjoy and take it all in in order to ultimately share our experience with you!

Then we stumbled onto why they called this “The Disclosurefest” and not “Yoga Fest” or “Spiritual Awaking in the Park” or something. So Alien therorists were out in droves (as we soon realized) to share their real life encounters, sightings and unnatural phenomena.

So I’ll be honest, I’m a super skeptic and although I don’t discount the fact that there have been UFO sightings and other unexplained events, these folks are sure they can communicate with extraterrestrial beings and ward off natural disasters and war. So we attended a few talks. The speakers, who had personal alien encounters had books out, podcasts to advertise, and messages to spread so I reluctantly sat through with an open ear but also with rolling eyes (under my sunglasses.) Mike on the other hand, was very interested. He loves watching Ancient Aliens, X-files and movies like Independence Day so this was right up his alley!

I mean, who knows what’s out there, right? After all, America is planning on “Space Force” right!

So the Mass Meditation we somehow missed by bypassing the vegan food trucks for some amazing Roast Beef Dip sandwiches at Philippe’s in LA just outside the event. And we even caught the “tail end” of the Naked Bike Ride! LOL - This city is full of surprises around every bend!

So it was an interesting day to say the least! Lots of interesting theories, fun dancing, beautiful people, aroma therapy and a calm energy that transcended through the diverse crowd. I was overcome by my senses and enjoyed every moment of people watching (and photography of course.)

Peace, love and acceptance were the prevailing themes here. I admired people’s painted faces, tattoos, henna, piercings, colored hair, happy dancing and cute accessories. Truly, everyone’s inner and outer beauty was radiating here. We were all accepted. We were all as one.

So whether we’re a part of something bigger than just this world or not, we are sharing in this community of people who are free to have their own thoughts, beliefs, religions and ideas and I fully respect that. To each his or her own.

Thanks for reading!
