Was today a Success!?
Everyone defines success differently, right? Even a daily definition can vary for each person on any given day during any different period of time in their lives.
So for me - today, considering I didn’t even leave the house due to my broken wrist, yes, I would actually consider today a major success! I have the week off to rest since Tuesday’s surgery and I have been taking full advantage of this restful period to do exactly that! I have been sleeping in, napping on and off, elevating, medicating, eating well, showering, hydrating, coloring, talking, texting, facebooking, blogging, reading, watching TV and Netflix, listening to music, petting my cat, spending time with the hubby, moving my fingers slowly but surely and today, catching up with 3 of my favorite people on the phone!
I began my day wishing my cousin a happy birthday which luckily led to an immediate phone call. She warms my heart, makes me feel connected to the family and has me laughing within the first few seconds of our conversation every time! No matter where she is in the state or the world, I always know she’s just a phone call away and we understand eachother in a way only family can. She’s the closest thing I have to a sibling, so when we catch up it’s so meaningful and truly makes my day!
Next, I got a call from my East Coast bestie who I am visiting very soon! We recall the last 11+ years that we’ve been friends and the last time we hung out like it was just yesterday! I love being completely myself, laughing a ton and hearing crazy family stories that always have me rolling! (Like that little black panther who has her wrapped completely around his little finger.) No matter the distance we make up for it each time we text or talk. My soul feels more complete now that we’ve caught up.
Next, I called work to get the last minute skinny on tomorrow’s big company dinner and of course I chatted with my #1 girl there for quite a bit. I feel missed and I cannot wait to see everyone Saturday. And I was so glad I got my daily dose of Elaine! She makes me smile, makes me feel loved and cared about and has me laughing no matter what every day! I probably miss her most of all when I’m out. (No offense to any other coworker reading this.) Everyone who knows her knows though! She’s the BEST!
So on top of talking to my 3 favorite girls today, I moved my fingers a whole lot more, took another wonderful shower and spaced out my medication decreasing it in half! I’m on the mend, looking forward to some social time tomorrow and blogging again, which is so therapeutic. In addition, tomorrow is our 6th wedding anniversary!
So make each day a success, no matter what that might be for you!
Successfully yours,
