2018 Year in Review
Ah, 2018. How in the hell do you summarize a year like this? Every day we awaken to news that hardly seems real. I can’t begin to stomach even attempting to re-tell the news events of this year. I’m quite sure it will be in all the history books. We tried to keep busy and sane at olguinscene.com.
We started the year with podcasts. We covered everything from “Odd Funeral Practices” to some of the “Best and Worst Toys of Yesteryear”.
My favorite podcast of the year has to be “Gummy Doom”! On this show, we talked about sugar-free Gummy bears. These death bears have a nasty side effect if you eat too many. They cause explosive diarrhea! Some unsuspecting people ate these up and had disgusting/hilarious experiences. They graciously shared their stories in the product reviews of Amazon so we read them aloud with hilarious results. Seriously we added music and folly; the whole Magilla. Check it out
One day while out about I thought, we should film some of these rad places. We started out with a cheapy action cam and shot some video at the super rad “Last Bookstore” in Downtown LA. It turned out well enough that we started making more movies.
By summer, we had gotten the hang of it and shot some cool movies at the Disclosure fest and the Natural History Museum.
This Fall we went back to blog basics where we revisited some dangerous old rides with “Archaic Amusements”.
We continued with movies though, as we explored the Huntington Botanical Gardens and Library in San Marino and went to the Moonlight Forrest Festival in Winter.
Often times, the news seemed unreal this year. I’ve seen that some of y’all out there have got new careers or had families, or big things going on good and bad on top everything else. Hopefully, the silly nonsense we post here brought a smile or made you think or want to check a cool new place out. That’s what it’s all about!
