Alpine Slide! - Big Bear, CA

Alpine Slide! - Big Bear, CA

In Big Bear CA, there is recreation area called "Magic Mountain"
(Not to be confused with the Six Flags Magic Mountain.) Two totally different things.

This place is the mountains near Big Bear Lake. They have tubing and snowy areas in the winter and a water slide for the summer.

The main draw though is the Alpine Side! It looks a bit like a dry waterslide winding a mile down the hill. We went to Big Bear few years back and stumbled upon it.

Sliders zip down on a roller-sled; which is a sled with wheels you sit in. It has a handle so you can brake as well.

You ride ski lift chair up a deceptively large hill; crossing over people zipping through on their roller-sleds.

At the top, you grab a sled, plop it on the slide, jump on and wait for the dude to give you the signal.

When it's clear, you push off and gravity takes hold. You start speeding along at a really good clip!

At first, you might be cautious with the breaks; but once you get the hang of it, it's really thrilling.

Around banked turns, zippy straightaways with the wind in your hair and beautiful mountain view it's an excellent ride! A must see!
