Simpsons A-Z

Since The Simpsons has been on my mind lately after my last post, I decided to blog on my favorite characters A-Z (who are not a part of the official Simpson's family.)

There are so many great characters who have made the show what it is today from Agnes Skinner to Kearny Zzywicz - so enjoy!

A : Apu Nahasapeemapetilon

The hardest working Springfieldian who is also married with octuplets! Famous line: "Thank you and come again!" I loved when he took a 10 minute break in "30 short stories about Springfield" and he danced to "I am a freak-azoid" at a pool party. He can really let his hair down - if he ever gets a moment!

B : Barney Gumble

Homer's favorite bar fly [belch] who has an incredible singing voice in the B-Sharps. I loved when he was the "Plow King" and did a commercial singing with Linda Rodstadt.

C : Cletus Spuckler

This hillbilly stereotype known as Cletus the Slap-jawed yokel comes up with the craziest sayings sometimes. We get a kick out of the "Homer Badman" episode when he gets busted in an interview. Reporter: "So where are the hookers?" Cletus: "Round back - Whoops."

D: Disco Stu

So glad this one time character based on an old rhinestoned "Disco Stud" jacket Homer was trying to sell has become a regular! He also speaks in the third person: "Disco Stu got hooked on the white stuff back in the 70's." (Snorts a line of sugar.) And we commonly repeat : "Kids?! Back away, not today Disco lady." (referring to Marge.)

E : Edna Krabappel

As Bart's teacher it's not surprising that her catchphrase is just a sarcastic "Hah!" (Which I find myself saying on a regular basis too.) My favorite was when she wrote love letters to "Woodrow" who was actually Bart Simpson and enclosed a picture to "really get his pencil moving!"

F : Fat Tony

This Italian mob boss says he'll keep Krusty around in 'Homey the Clown': "Ok, but we're only letting the bet ride because you crack us, so consistently - UP."

G : Groundskeeper Willie

This Scotsman's accent cracks me up! And although in overalls he has a Homer-like physique, when he rips his shirt off, he dawns a super jacked 6-pack. "Auckk, dune-town."

H : Hans Moleman

This poor guy never catches a break. He's like Mr. Magoo meets Grandpa Simpson times 10! I loved when he was driving beside the school bus and Bart says "There's a gremlin on the side of the bus!" And Otto says "Ah, no problemo!" and then rams Moleman's Gremlin car.

I : Itchy the Mouse

I love this cat and mouse duo more than the original "Tom and Jerry". They have truly withstood the test of time with their crazy killing antics. I would love to visit a real life "Itchy and Scratchy Land" someday! It would be so dangerous!

J : Jimbo Jones

Mike identifies with this long haired, skull wearing bully because of his poking fun and "big brother-like" comments. Like when he laughs at Bart's pajamas, and mockingly asks "Did your mommy buy those for you?" And Bart replies, "Of course, she did. Who else would have?" At which point Jimbo has a blank stare before admitting Bart has won (this time).

K : Kusty the Clown

"Get ready for two weeks at the happiest place on earth - Tiajuana!" As Krusty drives the kids south of the border, far, far away from the horrors of Kamp Krusty.

L : Lionel Hutz; Attourney at Law

Although his babysitting fees are reasonable, his "lawyering" can sure add up! "That's why you're the judge and I'm the "law-talking guy"!" Reminds me of all those weekday commercials for accident lawyers sometimes.

M : Moe Syzlack

Need a Duff or a Flaming Moe? Come on down to Moe's Tavern. My favorite was when he opened up "Uncle Moe's Family Feedbag" and makes Ralph cry then appologizes saying "Sorry, the laughter of children cuts through me like a dentist's drill. That was funny though. Taking away my dignity like that."

N : Ned Flanders

"Okily dokily, neighborino!" Annoying Homer to the max with nearly everything he does. From the Leftorium to his overly Christian ways, Ned seems to get under his skin even when he's saving his life from a fire!

O : Otto Mann

A product of 80's drugs and rock and roll he somehow drives the Springfield school bus each day. "My name is Otto, I love to get Blotto!" I love when his fingers "fing."

P : Professor Frink

Probably the smartest man in Springfield who's socially awkward comments like "Glavin!" make me chuckle every time.

Q : Mayor "Diamond Joe" Quimby

As Comic Book Guy might say: "Worst public official ever." (Oh wait...) lol. His sleazy ways, shady dealings, corrupt/spoiled nephew and bad media coverage seemed like a crazy political spoof back in the day. Oh how far we've come...

R : Ralph Wiggum

So many quotable quotes from Ralph! Like: "My cats breath smells like cat food." "I choo-choo-choose you, and there's a picture of a train on it!" "It tastes like burning." "I bent my wookie." "Miss Hoover. I glued my head to my shoulder." "Me fail English. That's unpossible." And my personal favorite: "Hi, Super Nintendo Chalmers." Bloodhound Gang even created a song consisting only of Ralph Wiggam's quotes which I highly recommend.

S : Sideshow Bob

Truth be told - I hate Sideshow Bob with a passion. His smug, overly complicated statements followed up with simple slapstick comedy somehow rubs me the wrong way. Always have. For this reason alone I think that's why Mike loves him! (Voiced by Kelsey Grammer.)

T : Troy McClure

"You may have seen me in such films as..." Oh how I miss all of Phil Hartman's character voices. Troy McClure was one of his finest!

U : Üter

"Ooo, I love chocolate!"  So much so that he was made into "üterbrauten" in a Halloween episode where the teachers were eating the students. So plump and delicious!

V : Milhouse Van Houten

Bart's dorky best friend who exclaims: "Everything's coming up Milhouse!"

W : Waylon Smithers

Mr. Burns right hand man who would do anything for his bosses approval (and I mean anything!)

X : ???

I literally couldn't come up with a single character on the Simpsons who's first or last name starts with an X! So I decided to pay tribute to the special guest stars who have voiced an ex love interest on the show! Beverly D'Angelo (Lurleen Lumpkin), Michelle Pfeiffer (Mindy Simmons), Meryl Steep (Jessica Lovejoy), Reese Witherspoon (Greta Wolfcastle) and Sarah Silverman (Jenda).

Y : Yes Man

A waiter who aims to please and says enthusiastically "Why, yeeessss!" (because he had a stroke.)

Z : Artie Ziff

Marge's Prom date (voiced by John Lovitz) who gets handsy and years later in life becomes a billionaire. Did Marge make the right decision...? Of course she did! Gotta love Homer Simpson!!!!

Homer Simpson

Special thanks to Matt Groening, and Wikipedia for these wonderful Simpsons images which I manipulated in Sparkpost! Thanks for reading and enjoy the Simpsons on FX anytime!
