Moonlight Forest Festival - Making a Scene

Crystal and I visited the Moonlight Forest Festival. It's a night time event featuring colorful "lanterns" that are more like glowing parade floats based on Chinese culture, folklore, monuments, animals, and way more!

We were surprised at what a voluminous variety of cool displays there was to see. They are made by stretching rayon around specially made wireframes then heat-shrinking it in place. Then they are painted with translucent dyes and illuminated from within. They are based on the kind of “lanterns” one would see in China for the mid-autumn festival.

See how it went in our video blog above. Crystal also took some rad pics of our favorite displays, and they are in the gallery below.

The Moon Light Forest Festival is open Wednesday through Sunday 5:30PM to 10:00PM until January 6th, 2019 at the LA County Arboretum and Botanical Gardens in Arcadia, CA. Visit arboretum.org for more info.
