30 Day Blog Challenge - Day 18
These answers may surprise you, but these are the Top 5 subjects I love to photograph!
#5 My Food!
I'm sure my Facebook friends are sick and tired of seeing my dinner photographed and posted in a folder called "Homemade Meals" but I don't care. I am proud that Mike and I can both cook, grill, bake, BBQ, slow roast, sautée, sear, broil, fry, and wok up delicious meals for one another. Diversifying our pallets with ingredients that Blue Apron sends us has really made all the difference! I now love things I've never tried before and cataloging these amazing meals through photography has made the experience that much more enriching for us (and hopefully some of our hungry Facebook friends who can feast with their eyes!)
It's typically a quick cell phone picture right before we chow down, but I try to plate the dish beautifully, sometimes dotting the plate with Sriracha, green onions or parsley. Here was last night's dish, immortalized for all time via photo.:
#4 Runkeeper sights
Everyday my coworkers and I go on a jog or walk and I have been taking a photo of flowers, the sky or something visually interesting to put along with our Runkeeper post. It creates a nice colorful background for the average time and stats that get posted.
Again, these are just cell phone photos, but I love trying to find beauty in the everyday while trying to do something healthy and stress relieving for myself and my girls. We have noticed more and more fellow walkers, joggers and runners out there each year - so we must be doing something right by inspiring others. Who knew our business park contained such everyday beauty?!
#3 Couples in love
It warms my heart seeing the love just oozing out of a newly engaged or soon to be expecting couple! Capturing these beautiful moments between two people is an exceptional thing. A moment in time when the world stood still as you gaze lovingly into your partners eyes and know that no matter what, he has your heart and you have his. That's what photographs can do; capture a beautiful moment in time that conveys spirit, emotion, and pure love. Everytime I get the chance to photograph a couple in love, I get to witness this heartfelt pure joy and save it for all time. Awww, gushy I know!!!
#2 Pin-up Girls
I adore taking photos of friends and clients who dress up pin-up style! Curls, red lips, high heels, pearls, tattoos, long eyelashes and exceptional fashion style! These girls have got it going on. Posture, poses, expressions, and attitude all down pact! These girls act like professionals in front of the camera and I get award winning shots everytime!
I've even been published in a July 2017 magazine called "Hell on Heels" thanks to the lovely Ms. Jenny! I would love the opportunity to take more shots again, but maybe with a classic car involved! Ooo-la-la!
#1 Pirates
Argh - Ahoy mateys! My favorite studio subjects are often costume wearing folk who have a proclivity towards pirates! Not Johnny Depp look alikes, but real authentic looking pirates with beards, accessories and colorful language to match! They all have such unique looks, kind hearts and a desire to be authentic looking. They usually ham it up for our photography group toting pistols, swords, compasses or spy glasses. Such great subjects to photograph with so much variety that they win my #1 spot!!!
