Stacking Logs and Posting Blogs

Having extra days off means we can continue making progress on the fence today!

Having a Dewalt hammer drill has helped us create the holes in the cinder block wall, and these strong wooden planks (which we've reclaimed) effortlessly.  Then after the holes are drilled, we use long blue masonry screws to secure the vertical posts to the existing wall.

Next to secure the vertical stakes to the planks that we've lifted into place.

Now we can start stacking layer two and peek over the fence like Wilson from Home Improvement.  [grunt, grunt, grunt] (If you were a kid in the 90's, you'll repeat that in Tim Allen's voice for sure.)

Keep in mind we plan on sanding and staining after they are sturdily secured. But for now, it's coming together nicely, even from the neighbors perspective.

Even my mom wanted to get in on the action and began her yard work up front by trimming the bushes!

And then my neighbor decided: ya know, its a good day for mowing the lawn! So we were all out there, making yard improvements as a team!

And as I literally learned yesterday, it's also a good idea (no matter how on a roll you are) to stop and take a break. Reflect on your work, rehydrate, quiet your mind and just TAKE A BREAK. I found this shady spot to sit and enjoy a (surprising still cold) beverage. Props on the double wall insulated stainless steel vacuum sealed thermos.

As we rounded out the morning securing these layers we've realized that when you really put your mind to something, you can do it!

Whether it's stalking logs or posting blogs, we're making the most of our long July 4th weekend!

Stay safe out there and Chive on!
