Zoned - Twilight Zone Gallery

It's a zillion degrees! Save yourself from spontenious combustion and stay in! If you're looking for a great show to binge while hiding under your particular rock, consider; "The Twilight Zone"

I've talked about Twilight Zone a few times before. Little things people fear, cold war paranoia, even the supernatural. Twilight Zone has a unique vibe all it's own. The black and film-noir look, Rod Serling's razor wit setting up the scene and the music, always fitting the mood like a finely tailored suit.

The writing successfully sets the scene of a time and place while making you feel a part of it, rather than reflecting on it. Sure it permeated pop-culture, but chances are you spent some time watching an episode or two and formed opinions on it. In Particular during the holiday marathons. For this reason, I can see why some people don't like it. Maybe it scared you or reminds you of hot summers and awkward family Thanksgivings.

I think some people might even find it dull. It's not scary compared to modern... anything really.
So some people *gasp* think it's lame, and some people find it too scary or hard to follow. If you fall into one of those categories but wonder what people see in it, well it's wonder itself.

It's not always scary and seems dated sometimes, but it makes you wonder. Not just the wonder of the plot lines, but of the life lessons it tries to teach. Even the nostalgia of it all.
"Wow, did people really do that back then?"
Or, "Wow that really makes you think." runs through my mind all the time watching the show.

I believe that it's imperative not to lose your sense of wonder.
It's harder to do as you get older and take on responsibilities. "Wow!" and "Imagine what..." thoughts aren't just for kids or old people. They are not prepackaged warm-fuzzies microwaved up by Hallmark, or Disney.
It's my opinion your true self is in the things that make you wonder no matter how faint the signal is.

For me, I like to wonder what it was like back then, try and put my shoes in that of the audience at the time. Or imagine what the characters are going through. Or wonder what they did after. In the plot and real life. So it's one of many things that sharpen my sense of wonder.

This blog will occasionally be updated with Twilight Zone related projects. Pictured are practice projects I worked on before taking up learning Illustrator. Admittedly, they are just practice of various photoshop techniques on pictures of the show. I've been working on a drawn vector versions of these, and have a few more ideas in mind. But I'll show these to communicate the mood of the show I like. Hopefully, you don't have to understand the show to get the vibe and what I like about it. Happy viewing, stay cool and have a great time in the Twilight Zone! Don't forget to leave though!
