Creepy Cult Classic Films: "Tourist Trap"

If you're looking for some creepy retro movies for Halloween, we have one for you. 1979's "Tourist Trap."

In this disco-era flick, a group of incredibly 1970s young people on a road trip happenstance upon a seemingly abandoned roadside attraction.

It's a natural oasis with a lagoon, waterfall, and gift shop. They encounter a kindly old man who still lives there. He shows them into the museum, which is full of creepy automatons. They soon realize a guy in their party is missing, and they split up to go look for him.

It doesn't take long before they're being stalked by a masked creeper with gnarly powers, and the action begins.

This is a really fun watch in terms of cheesy retro thrills perfect for Halloween. A creepy stalker, laughing mannequins, scary masks, this flick really has it all.

Now we're not known to like scary movies, and up until recently, we didn't. But we do like cheesy, retro VHS era movies. We realized there's a whole bunch of flicks from this age we haven't seen in the form of horror movies and gave them a shot. We found most of them to be awesome and fun!

Of course, we saw your Freddies and Jasons, but we also found some lesser-known but still really cool movies. I thought it would be rad to post about these gems to help you the reader pick some fun creepy flicks for your Halloween watch list.

Now full disclosure, we saw the "Rifftrax" version of "Tourist Trap".

As I've mentioned in other posts, "Rifftrax" has comedians cracking jokes about the movie audio commentary style. They roast the movie to a crisp as per usual, which is freakin hilarious, but without the jokes, this would have been a pretty scary one.

“Tourist Trap” is available in regular or Rifftrax on Amazon Prime Video. Check it out for vintage Halloween thrills!
